Celerium is mission 2 in the Call of Duty: Black Ops II campaign, set during the 2025 era in Myanmar (jungle Cordis Die compound). You play as David "Section" Mason.

Story summary

2025. Section leads a JSOC raid on a Cordis Die compound and learns Menendez plans a cyberattack built on 'celerium', a rare-earth element that can be turned into an extremely powerful computer virus.

Where it sits in the campaign

As one of Black Ops II's fixed story missions, Celerium plays in a set order and cannot be skipped the way the optional Strike Force operations can. Its scripted beats drive the main plot, while the choices you make across the campaign — and the outcomes of those Strike Force ops — decide which of the game's several endings you reach.
